My Work in UI/UX

I’m Stuart Neiman, a UX/UI designer and developer with over 20 years of experience in visual design. With a strong focus on user-centered design, I have built a diverse skill set across creative and technical domains.

My work has always emphasized accessibility, optimization, and high-quality design solutions, whether in 2D animation, 3D modeling, CMS/LMS development, or producing WCAG-compliant content.

If I had to describe my career in one word, it would have to be “Versatile.” My jobs have always blended both creative and technical elements. On the creative side, I’ve mastered the art of visual storytelling through color theory, layout, and typography, alongside my experience in 2D animation, 3D modeling, illustration, and motion design. I’ve designed intuitive, visually engaging interfaces that meet the needs of both users and stakeholders across industries.

UX work being done.On the Technical Side

On the technical side, I’m all about performance optimization and accessibility. I’ve spent years diving into CMS and LMS platforms like Adobe Experience Manager, FinalSite, Moodle, and WordPress, ensuring that content looks great and runs efficiently.

For example, at Jeffco Public Schools, I reduced asset file sizes by 75%, significantly improving website load times without compromising quality. Similarly, at Cision, I reduced asset sizes by 70%, ensuring the platforms ran smoothly for a seamless user experience.

My commitment to improving performance continues beyond that. I’ve used tools like Google Analytics and Tag Manager to track user behavior and optimize content delivery. Whether compressing HTTP requests or lowering file download times by over 20%, I always focus on delivering high-performing, responsive designs that meet accessibility standards like WCAG 2.1 AA.UI/UX Example

At Cision, I focused on creating low and high-fidelity wireframes using Figma. Still, I also brought some Bootstrap magic into the mix to build interactive prototypes. I’m motivated by accessibility, and while there, I introduced WCAG 2.1 guidelines into visual and semantic design. I also reduced asset file sizes by 70%, and yes, I made animation and motion an integral part of the UX process!

Shazam

When I worked with Shazam Financial Services, I focused on improving the user experience. I worked closely with product owners, ensuring the designs were visibly appealing and accessible. I also ran manual and automated accessibility audits and conducted webinars for stakeholders to better understand UX design principles.

My time at Florida Virtual School was spent designing for K-12 students and teachers. I created accessible, age-appropriate components for the LMS platform, keeping empathy at the core of my work. It was a chance to introduce inclusive design into the process. I’m proud to have created prototypes that improved students’ and educators’ overall user experience.

On the corporate side, I had a blast working with Microsoft’s Industry Experience Center. My role was to create accessible designs demonstrating how the Microsoft Suite could be used across various industries, targeting C-level executives. I even designed interfaces for older adults, ensuring the designs were WCAG-compliant.

At GDMS, I supported the U.S. Army’s live, virtual, constructive testing environment. I worked closely with SMEs to optimize workflows and ensure the designs were responsive and accessible. I also created UX project templates that streamlined production and introduced WCAG 2.1-compliant design systems, including color motion and typography.

I’ve created custom learning modules and handled everything from student registration to troubleshooting CSS. I was on it if it involved LMS systems—ensuring the content was secure, accessible, and easy to navigate.

Teaching

Teaching is another aspect of my work that I’m deeply committed to. I’ve taught digital media and animation at Polk State University and the Art Institute of Seattle. Mentoring the next generation of designers has been incredibly rewarding, as I helped bring new digital technologies into the classroom. Watching students learn to create their own animations, wireframes, and interactive media has been one of the highlights of my career.

In everything I do, I’m committed to creating designs that are not only beautiful but functional and accessible. I want designs that are for the most diverse group of people possible. Whether designing for schools and corporations or creating educational content, I always ensure the best user experience.
